Broken Ferns, latest in the Lei Crime Series, is here and live on Amazon. The print book will be available in a month or so.
Ah, the launch of a new book. Nothing quite beats that brand of butterflies. Creating four books in a little over a year have forged my book development team into a seamless operation and familiarity with the process has helped settle my nerves quite a bit. Still, there's nothing quite like the hope and fear of how readers will react–but I'm feeling really good about this one, and hope you'll love Broken Ferns like I do!
The island of Oahu is warm breezes, skyscrapers and green mountains—but a daring young thief is out to make a statement, and Special Agent Lei Texeira’s new career is already on the line.
Lei Texeira has made a difficult transition from detective on Maui to the FBI on Oahu—and her first big case as an agent draws national media attention. With her typical jump-first, look-later style, she pursues her quarry from Oahu to the outer islands, rousing old conflicts and new heartbreak.
“Crisp, well-written and full of local color – Broken Ferns is another page-turner from Toby Neal.” Greta Van der Rol, author of Morgan’s Choice
Toby – I am looking forward to reading your books! Not having read any of them, which one should I start with?
Blood Orchids is the start, but it’s rather dark and gritty, rated R if it were a movie. Torch Ginger is next (Kauai) and is actually my favorite. Black Jasmine is 3rd set on Maui, and Broken Ferns is Oahu. After the first one, they’re all PG-13. Hope that helps you decide!
Toby, the cover of Broken Ferns looks beautiful and mysterious. I’m dying to dive into it. I’ve been so busy I forgot to write my review of Black Jasmine which I raced through just like Torch Ginger and Blood Orchids savoring every bit. Can’t wait for the right moment to sink into it… Congratulations on your page turning Lei Crime series. I tell everyone on my tours about you.
Congrats! When am I going to see those red heels? 🙂
Now you’ve done it! I was just about to start a book buying moratorium (well except for design because I need something to blog about). I’ve got an ebook list and physical shelf filled with unread books.
But, I will buy this one because I just finished the first three in the series and love it. How can I not follow up with the fourth which is based on Oahu,my home of 20+ years?
I’ve got two trips planned and have downloaded Broken Ferns onto my Kindle. I can’t wait!
Congratulations! I just downloaded the second one I think… and well, will get to read it, as I make time. I wish I had known about your books when my mother was still alive – she devoured mysteries. It was great meeting you and Mike at Maui Open Studios too!
