Wired In, Paradise Crime novel with Sophie Ang, is here at last! My MMA-fighting FBI tech agent with a dark secret finally has her own series, set in Honolulu.
Sophie first appeared in Book 4 of the Lei Crime series, Broken Ferns. She was so compelling that I gave her a point of view in the next book, Twisted Vine—something I’d never done before or since—and then I had to keep editing back to keep the story focused on Lei Texeira, my main character.
While writing Wired In, I realized I wanted to do a whole new series with her as main character… keep your eyes open for Wired Hard, #2, and Wired Rogue, #3, in the Paradise Crime Series, coming when I have time to write them!
Paradise has no protection from a hacker with a hidden agenda.
Special Agent Sophie Ang’s emotions are battered by a child kidnapping case that goes badly wrong. In tracking the criminal ring, her rogue data analysis program D.A.V.I.D. identifies an anomaly that leads her into a cat-and-mouse game online with a deadly enemy whose motives are unclear. The chase lures her through dark corridors of cyberspace into a confrontation with the violence from her past that sent her fleeing to the United States. She’ll need every skill she’s learned to defeat her worst nightmare—and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
“Toby Neal has created a wonderfully rounded action heroine with everything: looks, brains, mixed martial arts prowess, and the ability to swear proficiently in Thai and English. Fans of the genre will love FBI agent Sophie Ang, as well as the tangled web she must negotiate in the tropical setting of Hawaii.” Russell Blake, NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author

I have read your Lei Crime series and Wired In. I can’t wait for Wired Hard to be released. I really like your books.
Mahalos! Check out the Kindle World books to tide you over until the next one!
I have read every “Lei”&Ohana book you’ve written,&just finished Wired In w/Sophie Ang-which I loved.I was going to beg you to write more of Sophie & Alika’s story (don’t let it end there!),but I see you have a plan in place. I know you can’t rush perfection. ..so I wait .
Would so appreciate if you find time to review…and yes,, the plan is brewing! Mahalo!
BTW, As a survivor of domestic violence(spousal violence) & on-going PTSD, I feel that Sophie is quite relatable. Our world has become increasingly smaller, my own fam. is multi-racial,I managed to become a professional nurse even after running from a dangerous spouse & raising 3 wonderful children(2 of them-now exemplary men-husbands & fathers); though I wish I had trained myself in self-defense…I think you do a very good job of making Sophie a remarkable woman, yet very much a relatable woman. She fights depression, loneliness, insecurities; all that makes us human. She is Wonderful! I want to meet her in person! I adore her. Thank you for this interesting newish character & keep it coming.
I was nervous releasing this book. One of my worries was that Sophie was “too much”– a brilliant, beautiful computer whiz who also does MMA and has washboard abs? I didn’t want her to be a cartoon superhero, a gamer’s wet dream. There were reasons for everything about her, and I hoped other women would see past her intimidating exterior to the soul beneath. It’s such a joy that that is happening, and letters like this, from readers who’ve been in dire circumstances too and are encouraged by Sophie’s example, and Lei’s example…these are the times I know I’m doing what I’m meant to be doing.
And that heartfelt comment: “She is wonderful! I want to meet her in person! I adore her!”
I feel exactly the same. I adore her! and the good news is, you HAVE met her. She’s inside you. She’s inside me. Knocked down in life, and we get up and go on fighting…and some days, we even get to win. <3
Wired In is terrific! Level of suspense and surprise kept me reading with anticipation! Sophie is intriguing with that inscrutable mix of physical and technical prowess along with touching vulnerabilities and wounds! Can’t wait to get the next installment!!
Don’t stop, Toby! As a recent Big Island transplant I’m hooked on your island crime mysteries!
Mahalo Candace! Your review would mean so much, on Amazon or any of the other sites!
